Well, Velma wasn't sexually assaulted in the latest episode (she's an ugly, un-rapeable troll, remember?). But someone else was. Take a wild guess who.

I know I've ranted about this subject excessively already. But this write up is my attempt to calmly explain why the way this show went down bothers me so much. I hope you all will take the time to read it and let me know what you think because I'm interested in hearing your opinions on the issue of feminism and what's appropriate in a franchise that's marketed toward children.

brendala.livejournal.comAfter witnessing the unfathomable, childhood-destroying train wreck that was Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated, I have decided that there's no way in hell I'm tuning in for the upcoming second season. I gave the show too much of my time already in the hopes that it would redeem itself in the end and it failed. BIG TIME!
However, I will forgive it and take back ALL my criticisms if the second season opens like this:

brendala.livejournal.comOut of boredom, I checked out the Crystal Cove online game on Cartoon Network's website. And, believe it or not, the story in the game is FAR better than the story in the show! And the romance angle is limited to mild flirtatious dialogue between characters. Which means we get to see MI-Shaggy and MI-Velma act like a couple without the added melodrama of Scooby/Velma hatred, the messy break up, or Velma acting like a bunny-boiler. It's glorious!

OVERALL
If you've ever wondered what this show would be like if only it didn't botch the romance angle, this game is for you! The only downside is that you'll feel sad that the actual show wasn't just as light-hearted and fun.
